I first walked into this class with a basic knowledge of cameras and photography. I had taken multimedia for two years in middle school, so I knew a few composition techniques and a little bit about how to use the camera in manual mode. I knew how to fill the frame with my subject, and how to use rule of thirds.
Over the course of a few weeks, my photos started to improve. I learned more about using the camera and technique and I slowly got more comfortable using the camera in manual mode instead of auto. I could adjust the settings quickly to capture the photo.
By the end of the class, I was taking way better photos that I thought I could. At home, I didn't have a very nice camera, and I thought that was why my photos weren't turning out like I wanted. I learned that it's not the camera that takes good photos, it's the photographer.
I'm grateful to have taken this class to improve my digital photography skills. Now, I can feel comfortable in taking nice photos. Even with something as simple as someone asking me to take a picture of them, I will feel confident in my ability to make the photo look nice. I will continue to take photos throughout high school because it's an enjoyable hobby that I have become good at.
